Short On Dough

If your child likes to play with colored dough but you're out of the brand name stuff, try making it yourself. Here's a recipe I use in a pinch:

-2 cups flour

-2 cups water with your little one's choice of food coloring

-1 cup salt

-2 Tbsp. cooking oil

-2 tsp. cream of tartar

Combine the ingredients in a medium saucepan and stir over medium heat until it thickens. I find it stores best in an airtight container in your fridge.

Go Climb a Rock

One of my favorite places to spend an afternoon with the girls is at my local indoor climbing gym Rocks and Ropes. It's a great way to work out and socialize too, rain or shine. You can rent the necessary equipment and if you're new to the sport a quick intro from an instructor will get you and a partner up to speed safely.

Pumpkin Seeds

Recipe

-Once you've taken all of the seeds out of your pumpkin separate them from the pulp.

-Rinse/strain the seeds well.

-Butter or oil an aluminum foil covered cookie sheet.

-Spread the seeds out evenly on the foil.

-Sprinkle with cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger (or experiment with your favorite seasonings).

-Cook at 300˚F for 10 to 30 minutes*.

-Let cool and enjoy!

*Seeds cook at different rates so check often and when they look golden brown they are done.
